
Jonathon Johnson is a rising senior at Chamblee
Charter School in Chamblee, GA. For the past two summers he participated
in the Vivien Thomas Research Program, in which he engaged in a breast
cancer research project at Morehouse School of Medicine under the guidance
of Dr. Sanford. His work focused on how the drug tamoxifen affects the
growth of breast cancer cells and he also studied the nitric oxide donor
effect on estrogen receptor-positive and -negative breast cancer cells.
In addition, Jonathon earned second place in his school’s science
fair during his junior year. At Chamblee, he is active in several extracurricular
activities including soccer and the William Grant Still Orchestra. He
is also involved in many volunteer projects such as Hosea Feed the Hungry,
visiting nursing homes and community cleanup. Jonathon intends to become
a practicing physician and a science researcher. |
