Philip J. Apruzzese

Philip Apruzzese is the Vice President of the Connecticut Education Association (CEA) the largest teachers' union in the State representing 34,000 ( K-12 ) teachers. He is also the President of the Connecticut Education Foundation (CEF), the charitable arm of the CEA, which helps needy public school children and teachers through grants and scholarships for aspirant teachers. The former immediate past CEA/ CEF Treasurer for three years, Phil has also served as a member of the CEA Board of Directors. As the CEA Vice President, Phil serves on various committees at the State Department of Education, State Board of Education and with the Connecticut Business and Industry Foundation Advisory Board.

A teacher for 28 years, Phil is on a leave of absence from the Wethersfield, CT School District to fulfill his obligations with CEA. In Wethersfield, he has taught primarily science and mathematics at the elementary level but has also taught history in grades seven through nine. His bachelors and masters degrees are in education from Central Connecticut State College and Central Connecticut State University.
